CHOOSING THE BEST WIRE DIAMETER

CHOOSING THE BEST WIRE DIAMETER FOR YOUR DESIGNS:

(The following guidance is provided by Beadalon).

*   Use the largest diameter wire possible that will comfortably pass through the smallest bead hole in your design.

*   Increase bead spacing. Spread contact with the wire over a greater area to reduce the effects of abrasion.

*   Choose a wire with the proper breaking strength consistent with the weight and type of beads being used.
The diameter of the wire is not always a good indicator of the strength.

*   Choose the grade of wire that will allow your design to look, feel and drape the way you want.

WIRE FLEXIBILITY

The more strands a wire has the more flexible it is.

7 strand:         Softer than Tiger Tail and more supple for a smoother drape. Beadalon 7 encases 7 strands
of fine-diameter stainless steel wire within a kink-resistant nylon coating. It is also stronger
and more flexible than Tiger Tail and is abrasion-resistant for longer-lasting results.
Beadalon 7 is easy to work with (no needle necessary), super-strong and renders jewellery
that lasts. Use Beadalon 7 for most general beading designs - attach it using French Crimp
beads. Beadalon 7 has become a favourite among professional designers and craftspeople.

19 strand:       Slightly more expensive than Beadalon 7 but much more flexible, this wire contains 19 strands
of strong stainless steel. Nylon-coated for increased kink and abrasion resistant, Beadalon 19
is easy to work with (no needle necessary), super-strong, and renders secure jewellery
that lasts. Extra-supple Beadalon 19 is the perfect string material for putting together
superior-quality anklets, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and watchbands.

49 strands:     Beadalon 49 is the softest and most flexible of all Beadalon varieties and designs fashioned
from Beadalon 49 drape very naturally without kinking. The forty-nine miniature
stainless steel wires incorporated into Beadalon 49 make it the finest choice for creating
jewellery designs that look professional and remain secure. The smooth nylon coating
provides good abrasion resistance, prevents kinking, prolongs strand life and
provides colour to strands. Beadalon 49 is easy to use without the aid of beading
needle, but is so soft and flexible that it can be knotted. Finish strands with conventional
knotting, or use French Crimps to compete beautiful jewellery creations.
